With no Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma steps up to lead Lakers to Summer League crown

Rookie Kyle Kuzma poured in 30 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in the final of Las Vegas Summer League.

Kuzma caught fire, connecting on 11-of-16 from the field and 6-of-10 from three-point land.

Caleb Swanigan led Portland with 25 points,12 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

The rest of the Lakers followed Kuzma’s lead as they shot a scorching 61.5% from the field and 58.3% form the three-point line. Guards Matt Thomas and Vander Blue added 23 and 20 points respectively.

Lonzo Ball sat out the game with a calf strain after being named Summer League MVP.

The game stayed close through three quarters, before Kuzma beat the buzzer with this momentum shifting three.

That shot gave LA a five-point lead, before they opened the fourth on an 8-0 run to seize control of the game.
