The fans and Thunder players certainly had no love lost for Kevin Durant in his first game back in Oklahoma City since signing with the Golden State Warriors in free agency.
Despite this, Durant and the Warriors walked out of the arena as victors, winning 130-114.
Durant starred for the visitors, dropping 34 points, nine rebounds and three assists with his former running-mate Russell Westbrook top-scoring for the Thunder with a huge 47 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists performance… along with 11 turnovers.
Durant was also involved in a heated exchange with Westbrook in the third quarter, before receiving a tech afer squaring up w ithAndre Roberson.
“It’s part of the game and I respect that. We should have just kept playing, I don’t think they should have reviewed anything. Hard fouls, s*** talking, all that stuff is part of the game and that’s what makes it fun for us,” Durant said after the game.
“Basketball is fun in general especially when you play in an environment like this. The crowd was amazing tonight, as loud as I ever heard them here.”
Asked if he was surprised by Durant’s reception, Russ said: “No, I wasn’t.”
