Aussie Update – Volume 15

By JT.

A roundup of news featuring our top Aussie ballers.

* The two leading draft websites (DraftExpress and NBADraft.net) and Chad Ford from ESPN all have Dante Exum going at pick No. 4 to the Orlando Magic. As we’ve previously discussed, that’s the perfect fit for Dante. Even his good buddy Ben Simmons (he of Montverde Academy HS, in the Orlando area) likes the idea.

* Whilst Orlando seems like a lock, Chad Ford, who is plugged in and really knows his stuff, recently reported this: “Some in the Bucks organization really liked Embiid before his back injury. But there are questions about whether they will actually be able to get him in for a physical before the draft. If they can, he is likely the No. 1 pick with Wiggins off the board. If they cannot, Parker or Dante Exum could move into this spot.” The Bucks are a mess, so let’s hope not.

* Dante Exum: “There are no bad situations, but there are better situations.”

* Dante Exum repping Auzz at the Combine.

* In this interview with the Herald Sun Andrew Bogut talks about a range of topics, including his injury, the Mark Jackson firing and the chances that he’ll suit up for Australia at the World Cup.

* Patty Mills and Aron Baynes helped the Spurs to victory in Game 1 against the Thunder.

* Cameron Bairstow’s measurements at the Combine: height – 6-9.75, wingspan – 7-0.75.

* Thon Maker with a nice one-handed putback jam.

* A couple of good features on Dante Exum from SBNation and Sports Illustrated.

* Andrew Bogut meets the legend, Dawn Fraser.

* Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova have committed to participate in the Saint Mary’s Gaels Basketball All-Star Classic on June 29 at McKeon Pavilion.

* In case you missed it, a couple of articles we posted this week – Tom’s feature on Dante Exum and my look at the options for Patty Mills in free agency.
